The U.S. Department of State (DOS) is instituting a “no eye glasses” policy in all visa photos beginning November 1, 2016. From November 1, to November 30, 2016 photographs with eyeglasses may be accepted.

In an effort to streamline the I-94 process, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has announced that travelers may apply for an I-94 prior to their arrival at a land port of entry. In order to expedite the entry process, travelers can apply online, up to seven (7) days prior to entry. The application fee is $6 application.

The Diversity Immigrant (DV-2018) Visa Program, more commonly known as “the lottery” opens today — Tuesday, October 4th. Administered by the U.S. Department of State, the purpose of the Diversity Lottery is to give foreign nationals from countries with historically low rates of immigration to the U.S. the opportunity to immigrate. For 2018, 50,000 diversity visas will be available.

Representative Bob Goodlatte (R-VA) introduced the American Job Creation and Investment Promotion Reform Act of 2016 to the House of Representatives on September 9, 2016. The proposed bill will implement new reforms and amend section 203(b)(5) of the Immigration and National Act.

On August 31, 2016, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) proposed a rule for International Entrepreneurs embracing investment in the United States by foreign investors. This rule would give DHS authority to grant discretionary parole to “entrepreneurs of start-up entities whose entry into the United States would provide a significant public benefit through the substantial and demonstrated potential for rapid business growth and job creation.”
